How To Fix Your Ice Maker

In this heat wave we are experiencing, ice is always a refreshing treat. But what if your ice maker isn’t making ice? Well, that might make it tough to cool down your favorite beverages. But with a little patience and a positive attitude, you can have your ice maker back up and running in no time.

Check the Supply Line
If you can hear the machine buzzing but ice isn’t coming out, it is probably a problem with your water supply line. The buzzing sound indicates that the machine is asking for water to freeze, but that water isn’t arriving. You can start addressing this problem by examining your units supply line and looking for kinks. If this happens frequently, you might want to switch over to copper tubing.

Make Sure the Fill Tube Isn’t Frozen
If your ice cubes seem to have spent time under the shrink ray, you should assume there is a problem with your fill tube. Check to see if something has caused ice to back up around the mechanism—this can cause the fill tube to freeze. Try removing the blockage and see if your cubes return to normal size.

Check on the Solenoid
The water line runs through the solenoid before it travels back to the ice maker. If the solenoid is defective, it could be the source for all kinds of refrigerator problems. To deal with a malfunctioning solenoid, unplug your fridge and remove the sediment screen. Once you have the screen out, run it under some water and give it a good clean. Not only will this give you cleaner ice, but it could fix the machine all together!

5 Signs Of A Good Refrigerator Repair Service

Is your refrigerator running? If not, you better get it fixed!

Finding a quality refrigerator repair service isn’t always easy, especially if there are many options to choose from in your area. Here are some qualities to look for that separate the good from the bad.

1. Licensed & Insured
When searching for a refrigerator repair service, you always want to pick one that is properly licensed and insured. Licensing shows that they are qualified to perform the job at hand, and insurance protects you from being held personally liable for any accidents that may happen.

2. Years of Experience
When it comes to experience, more is always better. A repair service with decades of experience has a proven track record of successful repairs and excellent customer service – after all, they’ve managed to stay in business so long for a reason.

3. Knowledgeable Technicians
You want repair technicians who know what they are doing. Look for terms such as “trained”, “licensed”, or “certified” on their advertisements or website. If a company claims that they repair all makes and models, this is a good sign as well.

4. Warrantied Repairs
The last thing you want to do after calling a refrigerator repair service is to call them again because you have another problem. If a company doesn’t stand behind their work, how can you trust them?

5. Around-the-Clock Service
Your refrigerator runs around-the-clock; you want a repair service that will do the same. Nights, weekends, or holidays, a good repair service will be there for you no matter what.

Speedy Refrigerator Service has 75 years of experience repairing refrigerators and freezers in the New York City area. Our licensed technicians can repair any make or model of refrigerator, and we always stand behind our work. Our phone lines are always open, so call us any time at 866-782-9376.

How to Get the Most Out of Your Refrigerator

If you
have recently purchased a refrigerator, you are aware of how
expensive of an appliance it is. Chances are that your fridge set you
back several hundreds of dollars, if not more. When making a purchase
as expensive as a refrigerator, you want to get the most out of your
money. These tips below will maximize your fridge’s lifespan and help
add to its everyday value.

  • Follow a proper
    maintenance schedule.
    Following
an adequate maintenance routine is the best way to maximize your
refrigerator’s lifespan. Staying on top of tasks like cleaning the
condenser coils will cut down on the wear-and-tear of your fridge
and keep it running efficiently. See an example of a good
    refrigerator maintenance schedule here.
  • Stock your
    refrigerator and freezer.
    Your
refrigerator and freezer both operate best when they are
well-stocked. If your fridge is filled with items, they will help
keep each other cold when the door is opened. In addition to
reducing the amount of electricity that your refrigerator consumes,
it should also make your perishable food items last longer.
  • Store food in the
    right places.
    Different foods
should be stored in different sections of the refrigerator. Items
which are susceptible to spoiling, such as meats and dairy, should
be stored at the bottom because that’s where it is the coldest.
Likewise, items like condiments should be kept on the door because
temperatures fluctuate the most there. Everything you need to know
about this can be found here.
  • Move the fridge a
    couple of inches forward.
    In
order to allow for proper ventilation, the back of your refrigerator
should be at least six inches away from the wall. In order for a
refrigerator to stay cool, it removes internal heat, which escapes
through the back of the unit. Having adequate ventilation is a key
for the energy efficiency and operation of your appliance.
  • Stay organized.
    Keeping the inside of your
refrigerator organized is the best way to maximize space. Instead of
putting things wherever they will immediately fit, taking the time
to sort your food out will let you fit more in your fridge than you
knew was possible. Here are 8 tips to organizing your fridge.
If your
refrigerator is malfunctioning, consider getting it repaired over
replacing it. Repairing your refrigerator with 24/7 Refrigerator

around-the-clock coverage and have over 70 years of experience
